Bill Rosenfield

Bill Rosenfield is a transplanted American playwright now living permanently in the UK. His plays include : ANOTHER AMERICA (Park Theatre) published by TRW Scripts ; 46 BEACON (Trafalgar Studios, West End; Hope Theatre, London; Blank Theatre LA Living Room Series), published by Samuel French; SUNSHINE AND SHADOW (Blank Theatre LA, Living Room Series); LET ME (Asolo Theatre's Unplugged Series, Florida) and the award-winning one act BRIDAL TERRORISM, published by Samuel French.  He is currently under commission for a new play for the US based Grove Entertainment and a Musical from the UK based Investors in Theatre Productions.

 

His adaptations include Frank Loesser’s THE MOST HAPPY FELLA, which was produced as part of the City Center Encores! Series in New York City and a thoughtful revision of the very early Noël Coward play THE RAT TRAP.

 

He was featured alongside his late husband Gary Gunas on the popular 2 season 12 part Playbill web-series OLD SHOW QUEENS (OldShowQueens.com). Seasons 3 and 4 will be coming soon. 

 

Prior to turning his attention to playwriting, Bill had a career in the recording industry 1989 - 2009 in New York as the executive producer of over 65 Original Cast Recordings

including the original production of ASSASSINS, TITANIC, CHICAGO,  THE LAST FIVE YEARS, CAROLINE OR CHANGE, GRAND HOTEL, LEGALLY BLONDE, THE WHO’S TOMMY , A NEW BRAIN, THE FULL MONTY, AVENUE Q and ending with the award-laden revival of HAIR, garnering over 30 Grammy nominations in the process. He was recently ( and happily) pulled out of that self-imposed retirement to co-produce the Original Cast Recording of the final Stephen Sondheim musical HERE WE ARE.

 

He holds a BA in Dramatic Literature from Hofstra University. Among the awards he has received are two Drama Desk Awards (1992 and 2002), a SDC Foundation Governor’s Award and a Richard Rodgers Award (2006).
