Guy Unsworth
Guy grew up in Southport, Lancashire. After reading Industrial Economics at the University of Nottingham, Guy studied theatre directing at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Guy worked as Assistant and Associate Director on numerous productions in the West End and at the Royal Shakespeare Company before establishing himself as an international theatre director.
His freelance career now spans a wide range of genres, from new musicals to Shakespeare, and his writing work is primarily focused around adapting existing titles for the stage.
Guy is a co-bookwriter with Alain Boublil (LES MISÉRABLES, MISS SAIGON) for the 2012 revival of MARGUERITE, and devised the narrative for the West End hit COOL RIDER. In 2016, he was part of the team behind the private 90th Birthday Celebrations for Her Majesty the Queen. Guy’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s JULIUS CAESAR set in modern day Singapore placed in the Straits Times' top 3 theatre events of 2018.
Guy’s stage play, based on the classic TV comedy SOME MOTHERS DO ‘AVE ‘EM, begun its UK tour in February 2018 to huge critical acclaim and is on tour again this year. The play has received 22 five-star reviews.
