Tim Stimpson
Tim Stimpson began writing whilst studying English and Drama at the University of Birmingham. He went on to complete the MPhil in Playwriting Studies under the tutelage of April De Angelis and shortly afterwards joined the writing team for THE ARCHERS. At the age of 23 he was the youngest ever writer on the Radio 4 institution.
Since then Tim has written hundreds of episodes and was lead writer on the Helen and Rob storyline for which he was nominated for a BBC Audio Drama Award for Best Series. The storyline also won the Outstanding Contribution award and an ARIA for ‘Radio Moment of the Year’. In 2019 an episode he wrote received a Mind Media Award for Best Continuing Drama. Tim has also devised four series of AMBRIDGE EXTRA as well as writing for CASUALTY, EASTENDERS and DOCTORS on BBC1.
Tim’s theatre work includes SKYSCRAPING at the Soho Theatre and Southwark Playhouse, ONE, NINETEEN at the Arcola Theatre, FIRST IMPRESSIONS at Margate Theatre Royal. He was co-artistic director of Net Curtains Theatre Company and is a member of Bold Text Playwrights, a West Midlands-based collective of professional writers who regularly present their work at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
Tim is currently Deputy Chair of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain.
